One thing about Yourshape Fitness Evolved for Kinect bothers me so much and I can’t let it go. It’s not that the Kinect camera can’t see my legs sometimes and the joint tracking lines flip out like I just touched my head with my heel. It’s not that the game doesn’t really give you a routine to follow so you keep trying different routines. Ok, these also bother me, but what makes me grind my teeth each time I hear it is when you do the Zen class and she starts and ends it by saying Namaste. This is a nice Hindi word with various meanings, all of which are pleasant. The word is great and I know it’s all trendy to use it these days, but my problem is that it should be something in Chinese or Japanese, not Hindi. The class is called Zen, which is a Japanese word meaning meditative state. The class itself is sort of Tai Chi “Lite” (from the little I remember of the Tai Chi Chuan classes I took many years ago) which is Chinese. The environment the teacher is in within the game has a Japanese maple, some rocks, water and lily pads, also Chinese or Japanese. So why not say something in Chinese or Japanese to greet me? I’m trying to get over it, because anger is the last feeling that should be evoked by someone saying Namaste to you.
